NotesIn response to significant erosion at Cape Lookout State Park (southern end of Netarts Spit), a cobble beach was built to see how this construction compared to conventional rip-rap. Used particle tags to trace cobble movements. The cobbles have shifted, and the dune in back of the gravel was overtopped once by the sea, but the structure has been relatively stable. It would need occasional "topping-off" to stay functional. Charts, bw photographs. Can be found online in ASCE Library.
