NotesThis paper reports on the results of a survey of Washington and Oregon oyster growers on ocean acidification (OA). The authors asked how well they understood OA, if they had experienced its effects, and what they thought the consequences of OA would be. The authors came to some interesting conclusions. “Unlike other aquaculture industries, shellfish hatcheries and growers appear to share a collaborative mentality that fosters trusting relations. . . [T]he capacity of an industry to adapt to an environmental problem hinges on their recognition of a hazard. This shellfish industry acknowledges the problem of OA, as they are presently encountering change and are forced to action.” (p.570)
