NotesX-ray CT scans of sediment cores have proved valuable tools for visualizing and analyzing the cores without disturbing them. Geologists are interested in the microbial communities present in the cores; however, X-Rays are known to kill cells. This abstract discusses preliminary research on the potential harm that the scans might do to microbes in sediment cores.
