Notes"Linfield College Student Scholarship Symposium. Event. Submission 10." This is an abstract of a presentation at a student symposium. The authors examined sponges to see how sponges, and the microbial communities that live with them, responded to increased nutrients, which represented environmental degradation. After six weeks of treatment, there were fewer sponges, and fewer microbes. “As sponge communities seem to show a predictable response to excess nitrogen, they remain excellent candidates for use as bioindicators.”
